The New Animated Addams Family Movie Creeps Us Out

Our favourite creepy family is back! MGM’s reboot of The Addams Family makes the fictional family look as kooky and spooky as when they first appeared on their titular ’60s TV series.

The cast includes Mad Max: Fury Road‘s heroine Charlize Theron, who’s voicing the seductive Morticia Addams; Star Wars: The Force Awakens‘ Oscar Isaac, who will lend his voice to the charming Gomez; and Kick-Ass star Chloë Grace Moretz and Stranger Things’ Finn Wolfhard, who will voice Wednesday and Pugsley Addams respectively.

Joining them are Nick Kroll as Uncle Fester and Bette Midler as Grandmama. While there’s no voice actor revealed for Lurch yet, Allison Janey appears as the film’s villain, Margaux Needler.

Sausage Party directors Conrad Vernon and Greg Tierman are at the helm for this reboot, but don’t expect it to have an R-rating as The Addams Family is traditionally PG-13 entertainment.

More cast confirmations are coming soon, of course and what we know about the film’s premise so far is that we’ll see the Addams family tussling with Needler, a reality TV show host, while preparing to welcome their extended family into their humble, spooky abode.

With such big names onboard, let’s hope this animated reboot does justice to the franchise, ’cause the ’90s big screen remake would’ve been a lukewarm affair if not for Christina Ricci’s performance as Wednesday.

The Addams Family is set to hit theatres October 2019. For more pop culture, keep it here at JUICE.
