If you missed out on the days where the Harold & Kumar film series was the sh*t, then allow us to tell you who the gentleman in Fahmi Reza’s photo is.

American actor, comedian, producer and former-civil servant Kal Penn is famously known for his portrayal as Kumar Patel alongside John Cho as Harold Lee in the stoner comedy film series Harold & Kumar. The series was popular from 2004 to 2011, and the first movie …Go to White Castle remains a fan favourite to this day.

What’s great about the films, besides a debaucherous Neil Patrick Harris playing himself, was that it featured probably the best stoner flick duo since Cheech and Chong and they were both minorities themselves. Sure, some of the jokes may seem dated today, but it makes for a good laugh on any 4/20.

Other than his infamous Kumar character, Penn also played a role in political drama Designated Survivor as a speechwriter.

And besides his rep in film and TV (he also had a stint on How I Met Your Mother), Penn served in the Obama Administration as an Associate Director in the White House Office of Public Engagement. Among Penn’s duties were to reach out to young people and inform them on the White House’s plans and policies.

Talk about being well rounded, huh? Given Penn’s political background, it makes sense that he met up with political activist/artist Fahmi Reza. The two might have more in common than we think… and we wonder if Penn is just visiting for a holiday, or if Harold & Kumar Visit Malaysia 2020 is going be a reality…
