Petaling Jaya Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Mohd Zani Che Din confirmed the incident, saying Farid was immediately arrested following the assault.

“After the arrest, we ran a urine test on him where he tested positive for marijuana,” he said.

The incident started around 1.20pm on Thursday 11 January, where Farid and another person had gone to report a traffic accident. When the officer on duty questioned Farid on how the accident took place, he instead flashed his mobile phone, showing a message that read “300 artistes borrowing money from loan sharks due to lack of jobs.” When the officer asked the relevance of the message, he was slapped across the face and a civilian next to Farid was kicked in the stomach and private part.

Starting from today, Farid will be remanded for four days. The actor will be investigated under Section 90 of the Police Act for misconduct in the police station, Section 323 of the Penal Code for the offence of hurting a civilian, Section 353 of the Penal Code for slapping the police officer, and Section 15 (1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 for being under the influence of drugs.
