Danish electro pop artiste MØ comes in a myriad of flavours, but tastes best when handled with care and peppered with gloom and a touch of melancholy. ‘New Years Eve’ sees her sound stripped back to a bare aesthetic, leaving just her voice and few sonic embellishments to carry the song through for the most part. Thankfully, MØ has got the impetus to do just that, with her mournful phrasing reminding us of a certain Adele at some points, and the harmonisers adding a strong sense of depersonalisation to the tune in stark contrast to her melodious flow.
