Ramadhan season is a joyous time for all Malaysians. Even if the swarms of visiting relatives get too overwhelming, you can always look forward to the good food.

If by some reason you missed (or couldn’t get enough of) your Lemang, Rendang or Serunding this Raya, fret not! JUICE has something planned for you…

Riang Raya Aidilfitri is a weekend filled with intriguing activities, food and happiness which is going to be held at Matrix Galleria in Ara Sendayan, Seremban on 23 & 24 June (Saturday & Sunday) and 1st July 2018 (Sunday) from 11am to 4pm. Mark your calendars as it’s going to be an exciting weekend ahead and even if you can’t make it for one of the dates, they are still 2 more dates that you can attend or if you love food like us, you’ll attend all 3 dates for the various Raya cuisine.

 

23rd June 2018

Start the day with the Ketupat Weaving Workshop!

There will be an instructor who will demonstrate the method of weaving a ketupat correctly. This dumpling packed with rice and woven in palm leaves shaped like a diamond is typically served with rendang or curry and sometimes it even has beans in the rice. If you ever wondered how a ketupat is made, you can get hands-on experience making this cute rice bundle right here.

One of Malaysia’s oldest pastimes, the kite or wau used to be such a common sight that it even got imprinted on our 50 cent coin in 1989.

Join the Wau Painting workshop to save this dying culture and personalise your own wau any way you like.

Children can then enjoy making Sand Art with other kids as they let our their inner creativity while a Balloon Clown entertains them. Ask for any shape of balloons you like such as a flower, a dog, a cat, or even a balloon version of yourself.

And while the kids are occupied, you can carry on enjoying the food served by Satay Haji Samuri.

Kick start the Sunday with DIY Art Wall Painting and get your hands messy splashing colours on a large wall. Who knows, you might unleash your inner-Banksy! Just remember to bring a pair of extra clothes in case you get too creative.

For cupcake enthusiasts, decorate your own cupcakes at the 2D Cupcake Decoration Workshop. There will be an instructor guiding you but parents can also help their kids while making cupcakes of their own. With so many icings and cupcake accessories to choose from, you’ll be tempted to not eat your creation and just stare at it for awhile.

If cupcakes aren’t your thing (too hipster?), then how about a Cookies Painting Workshop? Edible paint and cookies will be supplied for you and the kids to get inventive with.

Pelita Nasi Kandar will be supplying their food on that day as well, so don’t worry if you don’t have a sugar tooth. Their nasi kandar is tops in our book.

To end the day, a Close-up Magician will be walking around performing tricks and entertaining the crowd. His tricky illusions are so deceptive that it’ll be hard not be fooled. We’re sure the children will be mesmerized.

 

1st July 2018

The last day of this 3-day event will on the following Sunday and will see the Sand Art and goofy Balloon Clown making a return. In addition to that, meat-lovers will be thrilled to know the event will be serving delicious Kambing Golek and Ayam Tandoori. So bring your empty stomachs and prepare to fill them up.
