Unfiltered beer, as God intended
As Hunter S Thompson once said, “Good people drink good beer” and while most Malaysians are content with mainstream market choices, a whole world of microbreweries (indie beer-makers, if you will) have been waiting to be discovered. Discerning beer drinkers and thrill-a-holics, say hello to Craft Brews. [more »]

Reggae Bar

Reggae lifestyle with city convenience?
Reggae Bar has decided to spread its wings and has decided to follow the crowd to the ever so popular Changkat Bukit Bintang street but will the decision to go mainstream make it lose its appeal? Granted the new reggae bar lacks the charm that we’ve come to love from the one in Chinatown but all is not completely lost. Changkat is a fascinating area in itself so having Reggae Bar in this new location still gives its “I–am–in-Thailand” vibe - downstairs at least. With its dim lights and chilled out setting you can smoke shisha al fresco and watch people go by. Its huge Island Bar serves a variety of international and ‘Reggae’ cocktails, spirits, wines and various choices of local and imported beers. Upstairs on the other hand is different altogether as Reggae Bar boasts that it is the 1st and only smoke free restaurant on Changkat street – and its fine dining too, mind you so it’s a little more intimate and classy upstairs.

The New Zen
A stone’s throw away from the party hotspots of Jalan Sultan Ismail (opposite Equatorial Hotel), Neo is best described as ‘the new zen’, a domain where you can immerse yourself in the experience of gourmet tapas, music and drinks. The sound of running water at the entrance will divert your attention from the piercing noise of the city and the uber-cool green space within offers the illusion of being out-of-town. Hypnotic liquid walls, a colossal chandelier and the galactic bar are main features of Neo’s interior, designed to transcend anyone beyond their state of mind. [more »]

Havana

Changkat Bukit Bintang, KL.

A slice of Havana with a dash of Cajun
Formerly known as Little Havana, the truncated Havana has been opened 2 months and is already putting its new vast interior to good use. It offers a fine selection of wines and cigars and a breezy cool atmosphere in which to while away the hours imagining you’re Tony Montana. There’s a stage on the 2nd floor so anticipate live music. Baan26

Baan26
Thai Seafood Restaurant & Bar

You don’t even need to go to Thailand!
Baan basically means house in Thai and 26 is the unit number, hence the house of 26! Baan26 is a contemporary Thai-inspired restaurant and bar serving authentic Thai cuisines as well as cocktails and yummy beverages. This has become one of our personal favourites on Changkat Bukit Bintang and it’s the only Thai on that Changkat stretch for some yummy green curry or pineapple fried rice too. Best part of enjoying Thai food at Baan26 is also the buzz that is on the street. Great for people-watch. [more »]

Argentinean chomps.
If there are 2 things you can guarantee on Changkat Bukit Bintang, it’s food and drinks. Despite an ever changing roll call of restaurats and bars, Pampas grill and bar has stuck its hooves in for the last 4 years and with a name like that no points for guessing that this is an Argentinean steak house. The Library

The Library

e@Curve, Mutiara Damansara,
47800, Petaling Jaya,
Selangor.

Up your knowledge - of beer and British pub grub
Despite the image the name The Library might conjure, it isn’t some dusty font of knowledge where cranky administrators shush you at every opportunity. A gastropub, The Library is located across 2 floors where Mystique once stood at the previously named Damansara Cineleisure Mall. Things have changed since then. For a start the mall isn’t called that anymore - it’s called e@Curve - and unlike its predecessor, The Library seems to have made full use of the sprawling space adding balconies and alfresco areas even. Best of all, for those who harbour bookworm fantasies, the waitresses are dressed accordingly right down to their geek glasses.

High powered “rooftop” bar that’s all about the view
While Bangkok was already inflicting vertigo on its cocktail-imbibing populace, here in KL Luna at the Pan Global was the first to prove that a rooftop bar on a towering building could work. Skybar follows suit. A swimming pool by day, bar by night, Skybar is located on the 33rd floor of Traders Hotel KL and following a 2 month renovation, it reopened on 11 November 2008 with a nip and a tuck and more doodah’s to keep the elements off this chic space.
